Research Interests
Our research spans high-resolution remote sensing, ecohydrology, and the coupled carbon and water cycles of terrestrial ecosystems, integrating satellite and ground-based observations with both physically based and data-driven modeling to understand how ecosystems function under environmental stress.
Current research advances Solar-Induced Chlorophyll Fluorescence (SIF) as a physiological measure of photosynthesis and stress, spaceborne LiDAR for characterizing three-dimensional canopy structure, and imaging spectroscopy for estimating soil and vegetation properties. By combining our own ground measurements with satellite observations in process-based and machine learning frameworks, we connect site-level ecosystem processes to global patterns of carbon and water exchange.
